Your Lunar Guide for June 25th – July 23rd

Lunar Living for Summer: From Cancer New Moon to Buck Full Moon & Embracing Growth As A Cycle ꩜

This cycle begins with the nurturing Cancer New Moon on June 25, spirals through the Buck Moon in Capricorn on July 10, and leads us toward the vibrant Leo New Moon on July 24. The Creatrix Almanac is here to help you live not just by the calendar, but by the wisdom of the moon—one phase, one spiral, one intention at a time.

🌀 The Lunar Spiral: Cycles, Not Circles (Why Growth Isn’t Linear)

The path of the moon, earth, and sun is not a closed circle—it’s a spiral, moving ever forward through space. Our lives move the same way: we return to familiar lessons and patterns, but always with a new perspective and a deeper layer of wisdom, just like the earth, moon, and sun spiral together through space. Growth, healing, and creativity are never truly linear; they are cycles that lift us, bit by bit, as we move through them.

☀️ After the Solstice: Midyear Reflections & Living in the Light’s Wake

First, let me say… SUMMER IS NOT OVER! SUMMER IS NOT OVER! SUMMER IS NOT OVER!

By the end of June and the 4th of July, the energy starts to shift to fall and back to school. But as I wrote in May’s Almanac, this is the midpoint of the summer season.

As I sat down to write this newsletter, I found myself reflecting on the past six months, the funniness of time’s passage, and the midway point of our solar and calendar year.

June, named after the Roman goddess Juno, holds many roles. It heralds the start of summer, the start of harvest season for most in the northern hemisphere, and the start of the sun’s journey back toward the winter solstice and its low point in the sky, only to start the journey over again. And such is the nature of seasons. Cyclical, ever spiraling on.

Candidly, I’m not sure how to discuss the past six months without bringing in the past five years. Since the pandemic, time has felt a little… waffly. A little… fluid. Simultaneously, it was just 2019, and it is now 2025. In talking to others in my community, I know I’m not alone in those sentiments. How does one stay present when time feels so funny? How do I stay grounded when I sometimes feel like I’m floating, untethered? Where can I find connection with others who might be floating so we can bring each other back to earth? These are the questions I ask myself regularly. While there is no perfect answer, because perfect is a fallacy anyway, I find the simplest answer is often a right fit for me.

I stay present by engaging in my community, by getting braver to share the words that fill my head, by doing activities I love with people I love, and by finding little joys in the world around me. Lately, that has looked like going out into the garden each morning to check on our plant babies and their growth progress, check for any issues, and do a little weeding before it gets too hot. It has also looked like buying fresh fruit at the market (don’t forget to shop your local farmer’s market and farm stands!), and eating it with my favorite plain Greek yogurt and honey. We’ve already gone camping a few times, and that is one of the activities I most look forward to this time of year. For us, the camping season is just getting started, and I look forward to taking you along on my Instagram (don’t forget to follow me if you aren’t already!).

This time of year can also feel really intense in numerous ways. In Eastern Oregon, the sun is really starting to cook, and it won’t be long before our days are mostly in the 90s. There is a lot of pressure around the solstice and the midpoint of the year, with feelings like there is so much to be done before school starts, before fall, before, before, before.

As the wheel continues turning, it is not uncommon to feel behind. There is always more, like I talked about in May’s Almanac.

But more doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. More can feel expansive. Like the unfurling of the bud, you’ve been watching and waiting to bloom. Like that first sip of iced tea after a long day working in the yard on a hot summer Saturday. Like the excitement of finding out your teacher for the year, while getting suited up to run through the sprinkler with your friends. How can we, as adults, recapture that sense of anticipation that doesn’t feel heavy?

🦀🌚 Cancer New Moon: Return to Your Roots (June 25)

June 25 – New Moon in Cancer

This new moon calls us to come home to ourselves. Cancer energy invites nesting, nourishment, and gentle reset, reminding us to tend to our foundations before we try to bloom again.

Maybe it looks like…

  • Standing on your lawn, barefoot, in the morning while you drink your coffee. Yes, that means getting up a little earlier, but the sun’s up already, so why not?
  • Buying a mister system and sitting under it on your back porch, watching the kids play in the sprinkler.
  • Planting a small container garden, if you don’t have space/interest/capacity for a full-sized garden. Keep it manageable.
  • Going for a hike with friends in the mountains, where it’s a bit cooler.
  • Taking a deep belly-filling breath and holding it for a few seconds, then slowly letting it out.
  • Setting down the never-ending to-do list and having a Yes Day. If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s super cute, but the idea is to say yes to whatever whim or fancy pops into your mind. I don’t mean something dangerous, please be reasonable, but I do mean having ice cream for breakfast. I do mean calling into work and meeting up with friends. I’m not a doctor, but I’ll write you a note. ;) I do mean leaving those dishes in the sink for the day, and watching a movie with your kiddos. Soak in all the moments.

Ritual suggestion:

  • Light a candle like our Me First Ritual Candle, settle in, and journal on what helps you feel truly supported. Set an intention for how you’ll nurture yourself (and those you love) as summer unfolds.

Journal Prompt:

  • Where do you need more softness, care, or protection right now?
  • What does “home” mean to you in this moment?

🦌🌝 Buck Full Moon in Capricorn: Growth is a Spiral (July 10)

July 10 – Full Buck Moon in Capricorn

Sign up for Moon Mavens to get your Buck Full Moon Ritual!

The Buck Moon is here to show us that growth isn’t a straight line. Just as a young buck sheds and regrows antlers each year, we are called to revisit, release, and begin again. This is a moment to honor how far you’ve come, even if your path circles back before moving forward.

Just as a young buck sheds and regrows antlers, we are called to revisit, release, and begin again. Astronomers remind us that our moon, earth, and sun all travel together through space in a vast spiral—not a closed loop—which means every return is also a new beginning.

Reflecting at midyear often brings up funny feelings about time. Sometimes the days rush by, and sometimes they stretch out. The midpoint of summer can feel intense: the sun is high, the pressure to “do more” can build, and there’s always that sense of “before, before, before.” But “more” doesn’t have to feel heavy. It can be expansive—like a bud unfurling, the first sip of iced tea after a hot day, or a splash through the sprinkler.

Sometimes, that’s all we need—a decision.

A year or so ago, I realized I have always put my contact lenses in with my right hand. It makes sense, since I’m right-handed. I was curious if I could reprogram my brain to do an old habit in a new way, to put my left eye contact in with my left hand instead of my right. Turns out, I could. It was weird at first, and I definitely got contact solution all over rewetting my contact because I was taking so long to get the silly thing into my left eye with my left hand.

Over time, though, and not very much of it, I was putting my left contact in with my left hand, like that’s how I had always done it. Now, when I forget, it feels weird. Unfamiliar.

That’s how expansion works. That’s how reprogramming old habits works. It’s really hard at first, but it becomes easier, and then it is like that’s how you’ve always done it.

The same is true of our connection to the world around us, and getting grounded in a society that pushes us to move faster, farther, and be more productive on someone else’s schedule. When we pause to examine our habits and assess if they are working for us anymore, if they’re aligned, it is an opportunity to choose a different habit. It will be clunky, but you may find yourself looking at the world a bit differently, and it won’t take terribly long to get there.

Prompt:

  • Where in your life are you being invited to grow in a new way, even if it feels unfamiliar or awkward at first?
  • How can you let “more” feel like possibility instead of pressure?
